P. Richard Emmanuel, M.D. specializes in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of spinal disorders involving Neck and Back, utilizing turn of the century micro surgical and minimally invasive techniques.
P. Richard Emmanuel, M.D. has received nationwide prominence as one of the countries leading orthopedic surgeons. He specializes in sports medicine, minimally invasive hip, knee and shoulder surgery, as well as being fellowship trained in treating patients with spinal disorders such as herniated discs and spinal stenosis. Dr. Emmanuel’s training also includes reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery using the most advanced techniques, both surgical and non-surgical.
Dr. Emmanuel grew up in Southern California, attending UCLA and graduating with Honors earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology . After graduating from UCLA, Dr. Emmanuel earned his Medical Degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine. While attending USC, he became fascinated with orthopedic surgery through his research in the field. Thereafter, he performed a general surgery residency at Mayo Clinic before completing a four-year orthopedic surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center where he became the Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery.
After completing his residency, Dr. Emmanuel was offered a fellowship position at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys, California where he completed a joint fellowship in spine surgery and orthopedic sports medicine.
He has gained expertise in innovative surgical techniques and specializes in complex spinal surgery involving the lumbar , thoracic, and cervical spine. Dr. Emmanuel’s area of expertise and training is minimally invasive surgery of the spine, hip, knee and shoulder. These techniques allow for shorter recovery times, reduced postoperative pain, less muscle injury, and a more rapid return to normal activities of daily living.
Dr. Emmanuel opened his practice in Culver City and West Los Angeles . He remains actively involved in research and developing innovative surgical techniques in the field of orthopedic spine surgery . In the course of his career, he has published multiple scientific papers and has lectured extensively in the field of orthopedics.
Dr. Emmanuel has been successfully Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Emmanuel’s 10 years of professional experience and advanced training in several aspects of orthopedics has allowed him to become one of the most sought-after surgeons in Los Angeles.
